Our adventure is set to begin in August, but preparing for it has already provided a volume's worth of stories. We have one year, twelve months, that we've given to God. Emery has a year leave from his job. We'd like to spend it:
- doing "something else" (something outside the Education field for Emery)
- taking our family somewhere cross-cultural
- in a service setting (doing something useful; hopefully with eternal value)
We've found an opportunity in Spain, at a camp/conference centre. Even without the language, we believe we can be useful as support staff ~ maintenance, cleaning, cooking.
However, getting a visa to live in Spain for one year has been no easy task. That volume's worth of stories will not be written here, but suffice it to say that it is not over yet. As of this date, we do not have said visas. So we continue to prepare, anticipate, and have faith that they will come. The situation is literally out of our hands as we have done all we humanly can as far as completing, signing, copying, and sending documents, receiving some back to complete, sign, copy and send again, re.peat.ed.ly.
They say it could be a long while yet. We say: You don't know how big our God is. Besides, it's His Year ~ we've given it to Him. We'll go when and where He directs.
Kinda nice not to have any sort of schedule or agenda for the next while. Just not sure when to start packing ~ not quite true. If you know Bev at all, we've already started, again, in faith.
So excited for your family to experience this amazing adventure! Praying for you all and looking forward to watching the story unfold on your blog.
